Meet Dr. Michele

Dr. Michele Summers is the Co-Founder and Chief Designer of 34 Minutes.

Dr. Michele was raised in Sacramento, CA.  She went on to study pre-med at University of California at Berkeley where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Physiology.  After working in both education and medical research in Sacramento, CA, for one year, she continued her education by going to medical school in Miami Shores, FL. She received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and Master of Science degrees from Barry University.  She graduated from podiatry school with the Biomedical Science Award and an award from Pi Delta National Podiatric Honor Society.

During her two year surgical residency at Hawthorne Hospital and The Baja Project for Crippled Children in Southern California, Dr. Michele successfully performed hundreds of foot and ankle procedures on adult and pediatric patients including clubfoot reconstruction.  Shle served as chief surgical resident, which included managing a weekly podiatry clinic at the Red Cross in Baja California, for one year.  She is licensed to perform podiatric medicine and surgery in California and is an Adjunct Faculty Member of the newest podiatry school in the US, Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA.  She has lectured on foot and ankle pathologies and is dedicated to learning, teaching, and mentoring of podiatric residents and students.  Dr. Michele’s special interest in the field of podiatry is Holistic Podiatric Medicine and is one of the few podiatrists in the country that offers these services. Dr. Michele is a 200+ hour certified yoga instructor, trained in foot lasers, acupressure, reiki, reflexology, essential oils, nutritional counseling, and Ayurvedic medicine.

Two years ago, after practicing podiatry for over 15 years in the Greater Los Angeles area, Dr. Michele decided to solve a major problem that her female patients were experiencing—how to function and feel good in their dress shoes. After researching the problem and studying at Italian shoe design school Ars Sutoria, she launched a new line of fashion comfort heels for women called 34 Minutes. Shoe design is a new passion for Dr. Michele, and she is dedicated to helping women feel as good as they look. The shoe line is currently in production in a factory in the fashion district here in downtown LA, making 34 Minutes one of the few shoe lines that is 100% Made in the USA. The shoes are currently being sold in boutiques across the country as well as online shoe stores and from the 34 Minutes website.

Dr. Michele is a member of the Los Angeles County Podiatric Medical Society, the California Podiatric Medical Association, the American Podiatric Medical Association, the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management, the American Association of Women Podiatrists, the American Diabetic Association, the American Professional Wound Care Association,  Fashion Footwear Association of New York, National Shoe Travelers, United Shoe Retailers Association, and Two Ten Women in the Footwear Industry.

She lives in West Covina, CA, and enjoys reading, writing, yoga, meditation, and spending time with her friends and family, especially fiancee Patrick and daughter Summer.
